Penguins and Polar Bears
Most of these are by request, and the 'penguin power' refers to a theory by foxfirefey that the only way to combat cramps and remain mobile is it waddle like a penguin. And it does help, thus the icons. Of course, you can take them to mean whatever you want... one of my NaNoWriMo novels was an alternate universe with talking penguins, so they can have any meaning, really. The polar bears are just polar bears, despite what Lost may want you to believe.
The next question might be - but why would you group these two, other than the fact that they both start with the letter 'p'? Well, that goes back to an association dinner I once attended, where the Canadian chapter was talking about its swelling attendance - and the speaker cracked a joke about how it was all the 'penguins and polar bears' signing up. My husband turned to me and one of us - I don't remember which, though we were both thinking it - said 'There are no penguins in canada!' And to this day, that's all I really remember about the otherwise exceedingly boring dinner. And we still use that phrase occassionally, when poking fun at other... mis-statements.
